Letter of the year 2015

Letter of the Year 2015

in the Religious House/Temple of Greico, Echu Oba Nigüe, Omo Elegua

Denver, Colorado – January 3rd, 2015

For the fourth time the letter of the year is read through the shells of Elegua for Godchildren and Friends of the house.

We do this with the resolution that en this year everyone that belongs to this religious Yoruba temple may have a guide that serves to orient him or her and bring prosperity on his or her path in life.

Osorbo          Ano         Otonocua   Lariche  ile masegun otá {at the doctor}
Elegua:  6-8     4              8          5-7                   5-7                  8

Coco:  Itagua Alafia con Iré

We are osorbo but doing ebo we can conquer the difficult things and taking care of our health we will live a full life.  If we get sick our salvation is en the hands of the doctor.  If you feel anything bad the doctor must come to the rescue.

The Orishas that govern the house:  Obatala and Oshun, and in every aspect they are accompanied by Elegua.  Obara Bogbe says that here Elegua saved Obatala from an embarrassment that his own kingdom tried to cause him.

Flag:  White with yellow accents.

Proverbs of the sign:

  • ·   The ear does not pass the head.
  • ·      Respect your elders.
  • ·      Only the donkey has ears that are taller than his head.
  • ·      The walls have ears.

The dead:

We have to be in agreement with our Eggun this year, as much our ancestors as our spirit guides.  We have to look to the church and visit the Blessed Sacrament.  Ask the church to dedicate masses to our dead at church and ask mediums to dedicate spiritual masses to them at home.  Divest the house with plants/herbs and burn incense to purify and harmonize our homes.  We have to give thanks to Tiembla Tierra and the Eggun of our religious temple.  Elegua wants all of the godchildren of the house to do a spiritual mass for the dead of our God-father and to throw a party to give thanks for everything that he has done on behalf of everyone that belongs to our temple.  We must attend to our spiritual quadrant {Boveda} and our spirits.

The Orishas

If you respect and love the Orisha the Orisha will always stay by our sides in all aspects.  Whoever leaves the behind will not have them in the future.  Whoever has a religious debt needs to make good on it.  Everyone who is waiting to do Santo should deliver their head to their guardian angel.  You can’t be disobedient this year.  Our temple is governed by Obatala and Oshun and accompanied in all aspects by Elegua.  A respect for the Orishas and your elders is owed.  Obatala does not stand for disobedience between his children nor lack of respect from godchildren toward their godparents nor vice versa. Nor between children and their parents.  Place a piggy bank with Elegua.  You have to save money for when there is no money.  You can’t throw money away and misspend it on unnecessary things.  Save what you have so later you won’t regret having misspent it.  Don’t pawn things nor loan money.  Don’t serve other people as their ladder nor bear the burned of their cross like Jesus.  You have to be very careful whom you recommend for even little things.  Lies bring revolution.  You shouldn’t go to bars.  Everything that you do for Chango, he will pay you back with even more.  Give Obatala a crown of thorns.  If you are going to travel you need to ask your guardian angel if everything will go well and ring the agogó for Obatala.  This is the odún of the ladder; you have to put a ladder to your guardian angel.  Give two pigeons to Oque en the mountains and to Obatala.  Feed Osun a white pigeon and rogate your head.  You must study and develop your mind.  Take care of your brain.  Eat healthily and food that has phosphorus because this sign talks about memory loss.  You can’t doubt your guardian angel.  Don’t deny nor abandon your Orishas, nor your religious beliefs.  Maferefun Oddua.  Maferefun the Astro, Okan, Aguidaien, and all of the deities of Obatala.  Give thanks to Chango for everything this year.  Change is going to bring riches.  They tried to shame Obatala in this sign.  Respect the Orisha.  Do religious things with love and your heart.  This speaks of false prophets that work the religion to shake believers down for money.  We have to carry the religion in our hearts.  Learn well so later you can do well.  Obatala will be looking at who really loves the Orisha and with what religiosity they attend them.  A respect is owed to Elegua and Oshun in our Godfather’s house.  Ask them for blessing when you enter the door of the house, as they are the owners of this ile and you should respect them because they are the guardian angels of the elders of our house.  From them we have all been born.  Throw yourself to Elegua and Oshun.  Throw yourself to your godparents because it is a rule of Ocha and a respect for the crown of your elders.  Ask your guardian angels for blessings before leaving your house and when you return.  You have to visit the Blessed Sacrament.  This is a year where those that have fallen away from the religion must come back to it and stick a little closer.  Obara represents commerce, family of rocks, and speaks of many religious and Orisha consecrations.  Unle speaks of a respect for everything that concerns the Orisha and Obatala does not allow religious disobedience.  You have to give Chango a bat so he can get rid of and bat away everything that hinders our path and us.  Here you travel for religious reasons this year.  The secrets of our religion may not be divulged; they are secrets.  Don’t investigate what doesn’t have to do with you.  Don’t use what is not yours.  Don’t look inside of Orishas that you don’t have in other houses nor in our own religious house.  Don’t participate in ceremonies of Orishas that you don’t have.  Curiosity killed the cat.  If you have a debt with an Orisha make sure you pay it.  Do ebo with a cow’s tongue this year.  Place an Odu Ara {Lightening Rock} next to the Blesses Sacrament and on the other side put a statue of Jesus of Nazareth.  Give Obatala cotton with 8 balls of cocoa butter and 8 balls of cascarilla.  He who does ebo does everything and can defeat all difficulties.  Maferefun Orula.  Place a ñame to him.  Watch out because Obatala doesn’t want anyone to curse no do witchcraft to anyone.  At the end He will take charge of everything and serve justice.  Leave your enemies with your guardian angel and Obatala, as they will take care of them and serve justice.  Ask Oshun for a lot this year.  Feed her in the river two chickens.  Consecrate Chango’s pillar.  Don’t discuss religious secrets in front of Aleyos nor allow Aleyos to talk about religious consecrations.  At Orisha parties you must go wearing as much white as possible as this color has a meaning in our religion.  Women must wear skirts.  Give Obatala a merengue tower with a white flag so that he can put up a flag for us.  Don’t disaccredit religious priests and certainly don’t try to steal anyone’s position, involving them in slander and lie about what you have seen them do.  You have to be thankful to those that teach you and give you their hand.  We have to understand that the student wants to know more than his teacher and other may want to usurp your position.  Be careful of who you teach.  Give Obatala fruit.  Pray to Obatala for the sick, peace, and the world’s salvation.

The abures (God-brothers)

Respect and more respect, as much as in between godparents and children and vice versa, as well as in between parents and children, brothers, friends, and the family of rocks (god brothers).  Remember that the ear does not surpass the head, only in the world of donkeys.  You have to respect your elders and learn to never say “I know”.  Only Olofín knows everything.  Don’t get involved in problems that don’t correspond to you.  Don’t gossip nor go to anyone’s house to clarify or untangle gossip.  This odún says that the tongue doesn’t have a bone and moves wherever it wants to go.  The tongue is the whip of the body.  We have the tongue of everyone on top of us but Olofin and Obatala are there to do justice.  The will take charge of everything.  People are looking for and reading a lot of information on the Internet and in books that are misrepresenting the religion and there are disorders with the eagerness to learn so that you can later practice.  Learn well from your elders so that later you can teach well to your godchildren.  You work Ocha with your heart and religious foundation y you can only learn the Ibodu De Ocha (Orisha Temple) next to your elders that are the indicated ones to exercise the cult and the ones that have the necessary knowledge.  We also need to understand that we are not going to learn with the intention of robing the believer that comes looking for salvation.  Don’t let anyone come to you with negativity.  Don’t bear the cross that doesn’t correspond to you.  Don’t throw other people’s problems onto your shoulders.  We have to be positive.  The universe conspires: everything that you say, think, and project from your mouth is what you will get in the future.  Godchildren can’t be jealous with each other, no one is better than anyone.  You have to have communication with your god brothers.  No can feel better than anyone in the religious temple.  You have to be humble and patient.  Don’t speak poorly of your elders behind their backs.  Learn to value and be thankful.  Yes, your elders have been this way with you.  Here the godchild wants to overtake the godparent.  Be careful with a disgrace that can happen in the temple for wanted to be the one that knows more than your elders.  Ask everything and learn to talk with your eyes toward others so you don’t go through something shameful.  In the religious aspect everyone will have a position in this sigh.  People from far away will appear looking for salvation.  Don’t close the doors on anyone even though we have to understand that the past will come back to haunt us and we have to be very careful with the intentions people come back.  He who stabbed you in the back before will do it again.  Younger Santeros throw themselves to their elders.  Be religious.  If you have a problem with your elders sit down and talk with them.  To get a higher religious position, like an italero or Ori Ate you have to have dedication, patience, and a lot of religious foundation.  Not everyone arrives to this position, just like not everyone can be a president or doctor, etc.  Cascarilla can never be missing.  We will have disillusions as much in our love life as with others that surround us.  Everyone is always going to want more than what you can give.  We must be happy with what we have and be thankful.

Money and business

This speaks of commerce.  Maferefun commerce.  This year people start legal businesses.  Don’t misspend money on unnecessary things.  You have to save for when there isn’t.  This odún speaks of 6 good months and 6 bad months.  A great proverb says that he who saves always has.  For all of the position and money that you can get, don’t let it go to your head.  You have to always be humble.  Never forget from where we come.  We must get responsibilities and accept the changes and challenges that present themselves in our path.  You have to try and make changes.  This talks of tricks and fraud in business because of money and position.  Obara Bogbe says “get out of my way and make room for me.”  Don’t forget that here is where many in a kingdom that had been assigned to Obatala to govern were not in agreement and they wanted to see him fall and shame him.  We have to understand that money is not everything in life.  There is something bigger and more important and is a necessity of life and that is called familiar.  Share moments with your loved ones so that later you will not be sorry when there is a loss.  This is a year where everyone that has completed their life can pass on to a better life like all human beings.  We have to understand that we live to die and we have to learn how to accept this and resign.  Because of this, everyone that still has their parents and grandparents alive needs to respect, take care of, and value them, as well as give Olofín thanks for having them here with you one more year and to be a part of their life also.  This odún says that there are people in this world that never did this and today that regret it.  Don’t be slaves to money and envy.  Be careful with easy money, it leaves easily too.  Give thanks for Olofín for things that you have.  Don’t cry miseries for any reason.  He who cries misery will certainly have it.  Don’t envy anyone or anything for your own wellbeing.  If you don’t have anything today, tomorrow you will.  It will be Olofín and Obatala that want it to be.  You have to be very careful with whom you start a business.  Don't serve as a ladder for anyone else.  Be careful with whom you offer your hand to help or pick up off the floor, because they can rise and you will fall.  Don’t loan money or pawn things.

Justice

Don’t do anything illegal.  Be careful with tricks and obstacles in paperwork and especially migratory paperwork.  People can go to prison a very long time in this sign.  He who has legal debts must face their problems.  Whoever hides from their problems thinking they will go away is mistaken.  You must face your problems and torments.  Whoever owes and pays will stay free of guilt.

The house

Put a butternut squash to your Orishas, especially Obatala so that they will always pay you and you will never need owo (dinero).  Hang a wagon wheel behind the door and when you leave the house spin it so that your projects will always move forward.  Clean your house with incense to harmonize it.  Be careful because this odún speaks of theft in your own house.  Don’t possess things that aren’t yours, not women nor money nor objects.  We have to change the places that we go to and the route that we take to get there.  We have to hangout with family more.  Don’t take in anyone into your house.  This sign talks of poor gratitude.  Always thank the people that help you.  Honor those who deserve honor.  Respect people so that they will respect you.  Be careful with firearms and violence.  In the sign no one likes to her the truth.  Be careful with fire and candles that are lit inside and outside of the house.  Be careful with electricity in the kitchen and thunder and lightening.  Don’t completely cover yourself in red nor use red blankets or sheets.  Don’t wear black.  Wear as much white and light colors as possible this year.  Don’t go where you aren’t invited.  This sign talks about being shamed.  Don’t wear borrowed clothing nor patched clothing.  Your hat is your hat.  Don’t let anything that you put on your head be lost anywhere.  Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink.

Food

Don’t eat lamb.  To drink you must know how.  Be cautious of alcohol.  Witchcraft can is put in your food.  Respect sandy fruits and Obatala’s goat.  Eat food that has phosphorous.  Eat healthily.  Eat food that helps you retain your memory.  Don’t trade health for money.  No eat old food.  Don’t eat red beans nor white beans.  Be careful with salmonella.  Respect peanut butter and peanuts.  Be careful with spoiled food.  Don’t suck on bones. Be careful of crabs, Santeros don’t eat crab.  Be careful with seafood in general. This sign speak of intoxication provoked by seafood.  Don’t eat if you are uncomfortable or until you get uncomfortable.

Health for men and women

You have to take care of your nerves.  Take care of your blood.  Don’t walk around barefoot.  The sign talks of blood infections.  Women need to take care of their varicose veins.  Take care of your stomach.  You should never take medicine that hasn’t been prescribed by a doctor.  Take care of your heart and blood pressure.  People are living anxiously.  You don’t rest well.  Be careful with the sun and skin cancer.  Because of this you should not be exposed to the sun between 12 and 3 in the afternoon.  The ultraviolet rays harm the skin of human beings.  This talks of poisoning.  Take care of your big toe and Achilles Heel.  Men and equally women need to be careful with the humid parts of the body.  Don’t touch pimples or pick at them.  Being on top of your personal hygiene is extremely important.  Take care of the stomach, gastritis, and ulcers.  People should not stand on their heads this year.  If anyone hits their head they should go to a doctor.  This speaks of blood clots in the head.  Don’t hit children in the head.  Take care of your lungs and repertory system.  This talks of emphysema and bronchitis.  Take care of your throat and inner ears.  Be careful with calcium deficiencies in the bones and teeth.  Respect white wine.  Don’t put on scarves around your neck very tight  nor wear anything twisted on your body.  This letter speaks of asphyxia.  Be careful with little children that sleep with their parents.  Be careful with dirty fingernails.  Wash your hand well.  Take care of your gums and teeth.  Women need to take care of their cervixes, ovaries, and legs.  Be careful with your breast and humid parts.  Take care of your menstrual pad and where you throw them away.  It is very disagreeable if someone comes to visit, uses the bathroom and find something there wrapped up in blood.  Women as much as men need to be careful with premature menopause.  Men should be careful of hernias cause by a bad use of force and with impotence.  Be careful with the gallbladder.

Family

We have to spend time together with family and forget that the telephone exists when we are together for special occasions and even in any moment together.  Humanity is addicted to technology and we don’t pay attention in our relationships nor during important moments in our lives because we are thinking of other things.  Love is born and dies.  Inseparable friends separate, as much as in marriage as in friendships and religious families because of disobedience.  Let’s try to value our women as they deserve, love them and respect them so that they can respect us as well.  Let’s listen to their advice, because it can serve us greatly in life.  The relationship is between two and the man is not always right.  Let’s take care of our children.  Give them a good education for their future.  Remember that we are the reflection of them and what they see us doing they will do as well.  If we mistreat our women and others they will do the same.  If they see us doing something bad then they will do it too.  Don’t argue in from of children and do bad things because otherwise to what morals will we call their attention when they need it?  You must dedicate time to your family.  Women cannot live closed in or in slavery.  Don’t lift your hand to a woman, not even with a rose petal as the saying goes.  Remember that we are born from a woman and if Olofín hadn’t given this gift of procreation to them that humanity wouldn’t exist.  Respect your parents.  Look well at the ways in which you influence the marriages of your children in order to avoid breakups.  You can’t leave your children with just anyone, be careful.  You have to speak to the girls, especially when they start their adolescence.  They abandon their home and lose their virginity because they let curiosity get the best of them.  With words and conversation is the defeat of challenges and problems.  Because of this we need to learn how to communicate.  Olofín gave us a tongue for a reason, so let’s use it in the best way and learn how to communicate with it.  Children need to learn how to be happy with what their parents give them, even if it is only a little or not very often, and to respect their parents and not be disobedient.  Nor should the be spoiled nor raise children to be spoiled, or rather that they deserve everything and believe themselves to be superior to their friends and those around them.  You have to teach your children to be as they are when there is and when there is nothing.  Women want the respect they deserve and to be valued.  Don’t leave hickeys on their necks, as this disaccredits them as people.

Various pieces of advice that come from the sign and the adeleses that accompany it.

Fire is under us but we can’t feel it.  Be careful with the law and if you are doing anything bad you can go to jail for a long time.  Don’t let things go, finish what you start.  A good tongue saves you and a bad one drowns you.  Help as much as you can, but don’t overextend yourself.  Be careful with the past, you can find it again.  Respect the privacy of people when they are talking, don’t involve yourself in what doesn’t pertain to you.  Don’t change an old friend for a new one.  Don’t promise what you can’t deliver.  This talks of travel.  Be careful of the path that you roam this year.  Be careful of thunder and lightening this year.  Everything must be done with your head.  Be careful of nightclubs and other places where they drink a lot.  People will die that should not this year.  Take care of your health.  This talks about debt and debtors.  You have to pay what you owe.  Don’t want to be greater than others nor desire to steal their position.  We have to learn how to listen. A child can give us good advice that can save us.  He that doesn’t hear advice will not grow old.  Santeros don’t get wet in rain water, nor should they be out at 12 PM nor 12 AM.  Take baths with goat milk, cocoa butter, and cascarilla a few times this year.  If you are invited somewhere, try not to be the center of attention.  Don’t brag or show off because someone might rob you.  Appearances are deceptive, not everything that sparkles is a diamond.  Every important step you are going to take you have to ask your guardian angel or one of your elders so that you don’t fail.  There will be political changes between countries.  You have to turn to the church and baptize children.  Don’t use the telephone in the ceremonial room.  This is where the way of the cross and the three falls of Jesus were born.  Don’t where striped clothing.  Don’t drink and drive.  Humility and patience.  Don’t confuse friendships with work and religion.  Speak will so that gossip is not formed.  Be careful with gun powder.  Don't wear red.  Do ebo with cottonwood.  Treason is against your person.  Separation of friends, marriages, and family.  Someone will be banished.  You must face your problems.  Wars will continue.  There will be divisions in family because of money and position.  Luck is crazy and can touch anyone.  Play the lotto in your area and try your luck.  Don’t pawn things.  Wear a parrot’s feather and coral this year.  Don’t discuss personal and intimate things with anyone to avoid being the talk of everyone.  Keep your cards close to your chest.  Don’t seduce women of others, especially those of your friends.  Don’t be involved in love triangles.  This speaks of STDs.  Because of stress you can go grey.  Learn to separate your work life and personal life.  Work is work, the house, relationship, and family is something else.  Don’t bring your work home.  Take care of your woman so there isn’t disobedience in the relationship.  You will live disillusions this year.  We will realize even in our own relationships that the people we are with and thought were one things are actually something else.  Be careful with tattoos.  Don’t say bad words nor curse anyone.  Before speaking think about what you are going to say.  The moth can cause others pain.  There are not just words misspoken but words misunderstood.  Be careful in front of whom you talk.  The friend is hanging out with the enemy in this sign.  People are going to come to you crying in order to take advantage of you.  You must dress well, you can’t dress like just anything when you are in public.  Show off and shine with your clothes.  Look at yourself in the mirror and hug yourself.  Love yourself, because if you don’t love yourself and give yourself the respect that you deserve no one else will either.  Love yourself so others may love you.  Lies bring revolution.  Be careful with spiral staircases.  Don’t put perfumes on your head nor walk around with the ashes of the dead.  Don’t roughhouse or grab anyone by their neck.  Be careful with long scarves when you are getting out of a car.  Don’t be jealous or compulsive, and don’t create phantoms where they are not.  Don’t slander anyone without knowing or being sure of what you are saying.  Don’t collect little piles of things under the bed or around the house, as this will set you back.  You have to be very thankful to Obatala and Oshun.  They say that they understand well that he who wants money and trades it for his health will later not be able to enjoy it and much less will he be able to buy his health back.  Money doesn’t buy health nor give you back your time that you didn’t dedicate to your family.  Good advice.

May Elegua bless you and all of the Orishas guide you along your path.  Ache!
